Alright gents - the time is HERE. Starting right now, the In-Season UFA Negotiation period will begin for any club with at least 41 games played in the current season.
Please read the following for a primer on what's to come.

STEP ONE: Decide who you wish to enter talks with - only those who will be 27 years old or higher on July 1st, 2021 with one year remaining on their current deal are eligible for in-season talks.
Go to the forum and in the "UFA Submission" section, post the player name you want to begin talks with.
STEP TWO: The BEARD Player Agent will then initiate their process based on the Rulebook, and reply with one of two possible responses: the player will enter talks with your club, OR, the player has elected to go to the off-season UFA pool.
Based on the player's decision, the player thread will move to the "Talks IN-PROGRESS" or the "UFA's Going To Offseason" sections. If the player is going to enter talks, proceed to Step 3. If not, this is the end of the process for that player.
NOTE: You may only have one player active in the UFA Submission thread at one time. Once they move into the "Talks IN-PROGRESS" or the "UFA's Going To Offseason" sections, only then can you enter another player in the UFA Submission thread.
NOTE #2: If a player does not begin talks, this is their decision and it will not change even if traded (they are going to offseason UFA no matter what).
STEP THREE: If your player has agreed to enter talks, you must send the BEARD Player Agent an opening offer email. Talks will proceed based on how it is laid out in the Rulebook. Refer to that for the best way to decipher what your player is after.
NOTE: This is the first time this program is being ran in this league (though we've operated it in the past). Because of this, we have built-in some leeway here. We know it will take time to understand the nuances. I have every confidence the GM's in this league will apply themselves and truly give this program a fair shot.
NOTE #2: This is a very time-consuming 'extra', so please be cordial no matter how things go for your club. Not many leagues (if any) do this, and just because you may not have fortune go your way, it doesn't mean the system is broken or unfair. On balance, this system is designed for a percentage of players to re-sign and for a percentage of players to be available in the offseason UFA pool. Be sure to check the FAQ section for more on this.
STEP FOUR: Either a player will re-sign with your club, or talks will break down. If they re-sign, their new contract will be added in the sim but will not take effect until next year. Signing bonuses will not be due until after we reconcile the finances this offseason.
If a player does not re-sign after talks conclude, they remain eligible for additional talks ONLY if traded. They will not resume talks with your club.
FINAL NOTE: Since everyone in the league started on Fair Market Value (FMV)-based salaries, we know that there will be a higher than normal rate of players who don't sign by the end of talks with the Player Agent for these first couple/few seasons. As players exit these FMV-based deals, we anticipate more players end up signing as a result of this program.
