To MTL: Jack Eichel Jordan Eberle OTT 2 2022
To OTT: Sebastian Aho Jamie Benn Nils Hoglander
Phew... After a couple of days negotiating this is where we ended up. The loss of Benn’s physicality and offensive qualities is tough. Really tough. But my reasoning is that he will be easier for me to replace eventually than it is to find a star player like Eichel. The advantage over Aho may not seem huge, but being a point or two better at just about everything + the larger difference in PO is alluring. Hoglander was a second round pick and is replaced with the OTT 2 2022.
Thanx Mike for very good talks where counters were made with respect and ambition to make it work for both sides all the way!

Ottawa accepts! If anyone would of told me that Eichel would move out of Ottawa when I drafted him as our 1st pick I would of said that that was an insane thought lol but with a lack of performance in the pre-season that carried into the first 2 game, it was enough to warrant a shake-up! We wanted a young player back with some similarities to Eichel and in Aho we get all of that! With great SC, DF and PA numbers, at only 23 plus a great start to this season, we think he will be with Ottawa for years to come! Benn is a great asset with still 3 years left to his contract, we get way better than we where with Eberly! And the youngster Hoglander, who is Vancouvers(NHL) number 1 prospect, is going to add to our farm system great start to the year! All in all, very happy with this deal! Thanks to Lennart for the great talks and the back and forth offers!
