Morning, afternoon, and evening all!
First up, an update on waivers. Because of the massive influx of players who went through waivers to start preseason, we did a lot of manual work as the simulator only allows 100 players on waivers at one time. This is why we've had to "trade" players to teams with successful claims, and why we've been manually adding $75,000 to the teams losing a player (this is all usually automatic).
Once the regular season starts, all of this will be much easier. I will continue to operate waivers through the Waiver Wire page on the BEARD website - however, we will revert back to the way it is supposed to work:
-- The Waiver player list is updated nightly after the sim
-- Claims are still emailed to me as they have beenĀ (til 7pm EST the next sim night)
-- Claims are then added to the page once nightly before each sim
-- The priority order will be based on the inverse of current overall standings
If a player somehow gets on waivers that you didn't intend to place on waivers (this shouldn't happen, but just in case), you will have until 10:00am EST the next day to inform me through email or PM on Slack. Otherwise, there will be no recourse for any player mistakenly placed on waivers.
Group 2 RFA Update: Because this feature was written with a regular NHL season in mind - and who knows when or if we'll get a 'regular' NHL season any time soon - we are going to update the Rulebook to amend Group 2 RFA eligibility.
Moving forward, to be eligible, a player must not be BEARD owned and must have played at least 2 NHL games or 5 AHL games in the CURRENT season. For our purposes, the current season will be the 2020-21 NHL season, which hasn't begun yet. This means anyone not BEARD owned but played enough NHL games last season will NOT qualify for Group 2 RFA.
Remember, the idea behind Group 2 RFA is to capture players who aren't in BEARD Hockey, weren't eligible or selected in a BEARD Hockey Entry Draft, but are in the NHL (or AHL) currently. This keeps us from having to add players to the league during offseason rerates - which already is a huge undertaking - and encourages you all to remain glued to what's going on in the NHL while lightening our load a little bit.
And finally...FARM ROSTERS: As everyone knows, you have until tomorrow (Thursday 12/10) to make sure your farm roster has at least enough players to field a regulation lineup. Each club will play two farm games on Thursday and Friday nights.
As usual, you have until 7:00pm EST to submit your lines files to me via email. Teams that fail to submit lines files with correct farm rosters and lines on Thursday will be penalized.
Thanks all!
