Limited trading will be available starting NOW!
Because the NHL uses "unwritten rules" when it comes to trading during the playoffs (as to not upstage the playoffs themselves), we will be using similar measures. From now through the start of the offseason, teams may make trades involving 70 OV or lower players, along with other usual assets (see the Rulebook for full details).
NEW for 2022: You can also move a player if they will be a UFA this offseason AND fit one of the following criteria:
-- Has been designated "offseason UFA" via In-Season UFA Negotiations (these players still have "Day 0" benefits) -- Has entered In-Season UFA Negotiations but talks broke down (eligible for talks to re-start) -- Is eligible for In-Season UFA Negotiations but has not had talks yet
Remember, a limited In-Season UFA Negotiation period will open again soon - the exact timing on this is TBA.
Any player moved to a playoff team during this limited period is ineligible to be used in playoff games (pro or farm) and will be suspended to prevent teams from using them. These suspensions will be lifted on Day 1 of the offseason.
FINAL NOTE: Anyone signed during In-Season UFA talks cannot be dealt until their team's 42nd game in the 2022-23 season. All other trading rules will apply and for clarity purposes, this is still considered the 2021-22 season - the offseason does not officially begin until July 1st, 2022.
Thanks all!
